Dave Stevenson - Bon Appétit Seal of Approval

Dave Stevenson was asked by Bon Appétit magazine to create these illustrations and hand lettering for their Bon Appétit Seal of Approval.  This is the first introduction of the Seal of Approval, and it is a list of 50 products that have been tested and approved by the BA staff as excellent ingredients that "will upgrade every aspect of your culinary life, guaranteed".  So, let's get cooking!!

Dave Stevenson cover illustration for The Little Book of Light

Dave Stevenson created the cover illustration for the upcoming book titled, "The Little Book of Light", by Mikaela Jones.  The book is being published by Red Wheel/Weiser, and it's scheduled to be released this September. 

We just received an advance copy from the publisher, and Dave's artwork looks great!  Dave illustrated the image of the sun as well as the border treatment - here's a sneak peek:

Dave Stevenson illustrates for Wines of Clarksburg

Dave Stevenson created this poster illustration for the Wines of Clarksburg, an annual event that benefits the Clarksburg Library. This is the third time that Dave has contributed his artwork for this benefit, and he also did the hand lettering of the main titles on the poster. If you happen to be in the area on September 16, you should go buy some wine for a great local cause!

Dave Stevenson map illustration for Viking Magazine

Dave Stevenson created these two map illustrations for the March 2012 issue of Viking magazine.  One of the maps shows the routes the Viking used for trading goods throughout Europe and Central Asia.  The other map shows the location of The Battle of Maldon, which took place in the south of England and was fought by the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings.  Dave created both illustrations in his signature style using pen & ink and gouache:

Bloody Mary illustrated

From our friends at The Art of the Cocktails comes this new illustrated recipe of the well-known and popular brunch cocktail Bloody Mary. The drink name we think stems from Queen Mary I of England, has been on the American continent since the early 1930s. Although the exact origin is still a bit foggy, there are many references of a Fernand Petiot, a Parisian bartender who ....

Dave Stevenson's map of dystopia for Crossed

Dave Stevenson was commissioned by Penguin Young Readers Group to create this B/W map illustration of a fictitious landscape for a book titled, "Crossed".  This is the second book in a three book series by Ally Condie, and it is a dystopian story set in the future.  The client wanted a clean, basic map with strong topography, and here is the end result:
